Interview with Mot of Isvarah

 Isvarah

Interviewed by: Corix

Hails Mot 665+1! ? How are you and the rest of the band? What’s on your cd player spinning right now?
Mot - Dude first of all I really apologized for the delay, gots lot of things going, work baby etc and thanx for taking time and showing some interest with the band, that means a lot. - The band? Its doing good I guess, got a tour going in January in davao with laguna’s EIGHT OUNCE, although the member of ISVARAH are all busy doing their personal shits we still find time to play as much as possible. - Whats playing right now? The new integrity album, rot in hell, withdrawal and later some 70’s funk music probably.

Your music has a strong touch of thrash elements, who were the bands influence and inspiration if there is? ?
4 of the members, eman, Milton, rally and me has some metal influences especially thrash somehow it always mixes on our songs, lots of bands made a great deal to our sound, naming it will take us the whole day but to some it all, it would probably some thrash music with a dose of integrity with some heavy beatdown cheesy parts. The way mom likes it.

Is “New Names for Old Desire” is your latest cd release? How’s the outcome of the cd and the response of Metallic Hardcore freaks? Are you guys have new materials to be release soon?
Response was over whelming considering all copies has been sold out long time ago.. I read some awesome reviews outside the country and was really great, yup we do have new materials hopefully all of them are gonna be recorded, again being busy ruins everything but we’re working It out.

How did you discover Hardcore? What kind of music you are into before you discover the underground? Who was your first contact at that time if you still remember?
Ive discovered punk and hardcore back in the 80’s, got tired of classic rock and stadium metal during that time, got some friends who hooked me up with early DRI, suicidal and Agnostic front and the world changed from that point, I mean after listening to a broken down recorded cassette tape of DRI’s first album, I just said “WHAT THE FUCK?” then I fell in love with the whole hardcore punk genre, then went to Brave New World Shows and katrinas and the rest is history. First contact in writing to zines and bands outside the country? That would be TAF of Disorder, it was like 89 and almost shit my pants when I got this letter and a tape from the guy, he was cool, we kept in touch til 94 I think . And bands like SOD from Sweden and of course Ivan of Coche bomba, we met like I was still 18 and he was like 20, freakin long time ago.

Is there any chance Bulldozed will reform? Pls. tell us about your other band called Bound By fury? What are the difference between Isvarah musically?
Bulldoze will never reform due to the fact the the drummer is already dead (RIP Cid) and the rest of the members are all living now in the US. Bound by Fury is a side band by me, Milton and Ambet of West and Dencio of Mihara, sort of a refresher for strictly fast in yor face hard with no metal parts. We recorded 3 song for butch’s compilation, hopefully it will be released soon.

The name “Isvarah” was Pusoi’s idea, where is he now? Since the name Isvarah was religiously related, could you pls. tell us about your views on religion?
Pusoi is what we call “Inside the matrix” living a normal life with his wife and kid and doesn’t want anything to do with hardcore punk, metal and all that shit, hes probably listening to ABBA right now. Religion will always be the opium of the masses, it like a drug to them, without religion people would probably end up like zombies, and kill each other a little bit faster and we normally do right now.

The scene before was like; “The Few The Proud” what can you say about our scene today in general? Do you think our scene is huge and healthy? “elites” says we don’t have real scene here.
I prefer the scene nowadays. Kids got more brains now and are really getting involved both musically, socially and politically which is very much healthy, the only thing I miss in the old days are friends and the music but not the ideology, bands who said “punk is dead” and now reformed and claimed they been around for a long time can kiss my fuckin ass!! The only elitist I see in the scene are the record collectors and most of em are my friends hahaha.

As an old, I mean, an old timer in the scene ? hehe! Trading tapes, sending back stamps, printed flyers, snail mailing etc. was really fun at that time, what can you say about the mp3, internet, facebook and stuffs like that? Because mostly of them that I know, hates that kinda thang.
Yup technology basically destroyed the whole underground network that was established way back then. Gone are the days when you almost shit your pants and other would get a hardon just by opening the package mail your favorite band sent you and all those freebie stuffs. All though it made music and information a little bit more accessible than it use to, it do have its ups and downs but I guess we have to embrace technology eventually and live with it

Is CrossBlood distro still exist nowadays? Honestly, XBlood devirginized me when it comes to u.g stuffs, I got into the underground because of it, salute to you Tom Tomb and Reypeace and the rest of the strong minded gang! When was CrossBlood originally formed?
Nope Xblood is long gone, our objective way back is to let loose all the new hardcore punk music back then when everybody was still listening to their broken down TRC cassette tapes, yeah I guess it paved the way for more kids to explore new types of hardcore that’s been cooking up during that time as you can see it blown up out of proportion but again, it was cool to see the outcome.

What can you say about these guys: Lord Ezeck aka Danny Diablo(Crown of Thorns) and Freddy Madball that turns rapper? Do you think or for you, is hardcore associated with hiphop? Like Biohazard and Onyx, Slayer and Ice T etc. not only hardcore but even metal like this rapper called Necro he had a lot of Death metal bands guest in his album, for you, is it nice to see this kind of collaboration?
10. Well to the fact that ive never listened to them when they turned rap, those NYHC rappers, we all know, its all about the money like new gimmicks of course as for the major bands, its an artistic collaboration, especially with anthrax and public enemy which paved the way for rap/metal/hardcore bands and don’t forget limp biscuits and my god, linkin park.
