CARNAL REDEMPTION
INTERVIEW BY: CORIX PSYCHOTRONICNO BULLSHIT: - Hello Carnal Redemption, how are you? And how’s your country doin’ so far?
CARNAL REDEMPTION [NICK]: -Great bro, our country is about to play the finals of euro2004, and everyone is focused there including us.
NB: -How you guys formed? Are you been from different bands before Carnal Redemption formed? And what occupies your life before joining Carnal Redemption?
NICK: -It really came out of nowhere. We were just jamming for fun and decided to form the band. Everything we have done so far came step by step. Before Carnal we'd play in some bands but nothing serious after all. Before and after Carnal we pretty much do the same things.
NB: -You first record your demo last Nov. 2000, and it’s been I guess 3 years past before you release the two track promo for Cerebral Chaos mcd, what makes you busy to record the follow up cd?
NICK: -We had to accomplish our military services. You can't do elsewhere. Our shitty country demands us to.
NB: -Is it all of you from the band are into the military service? Man, you are the first metal head I know who are into it! Cool!
NICK: -George and I have finished, and Nondas has 5 months left. We don't want to be a part of the army but like I told before it's obligatory, you don't go, you face the law. The only choice not to go is to convice them you're crazy, which I don't like personally.
NB: -Being a soldier, does it affect your metal habit?
NICK: -Not at all man, not at all. You just have to freeze up your activities not your musical taste.
NB: -What gives you an idea of joining in the military service? And who inspires you on it?
NICK: -I answered that on the previous questions.
NB: -Anyway, about the Cerebral Chaos mcd, when was the released on it officially? Maybe I guess, it has lots of positive feedback like what I’ve heard in the two track promo on it.
NICK: -We received the master cd these days and we're start sending it off to labels so that we find one to release it. Up to now people who've heard it say the best about it with a few exceptions as always. Let's see.
NB: -Underground metal scene in Greece Is really big I guess, ‘cuz I have visited lots of Athenian metal bands in the net, what can you say about your underground local scene? Is it really big as what I’ve think?
NICK: -Yes and it's getting bigger day by day. That happens because bands know how to work properly to achieve their goals now you see. It's a difficult country for a band, y' know?
NB: -Who are those Athenian bands that you think kicks mother fuckers ass? And who are the bands all over the world that spins your cd player everyday?
NICK: -Inveracity, Sickening Horror, Murder One, Putrefied Genitalia are some of them. Worldwide the bands that always attract me are Morbid Angel, Carcass, Death, Broken Hope, Incantation, Immolation....fuck I stop here!
NB: -How bout hardcore/punk music? Do you listen to that shit? Is there any unity of hardcore/punk and metal in your country?
NICK: -Yeah there is still like it. It's not my best but personally like the old stuff like Agnostic Front, Black Flag etc. But I'm not a big fan of it.
NB: -Being a death metal band, I know that you fuck religions and other sect, it’s very tiring if I’ll ask you that way, to make my question different, how about politics, what can you say about your country’s government politically? Maybe I guess, you will not give a fuck about your government ‘cuz you are in the government service, right?
NICK: -I'll put it this way to cover everything. Carnal Redemption do not follow any kind of religious, political forms and dogma. I'll also answer with one question, can you tell me which country in this planet has truly democracy? None bro.
NB: -Alright, have you heard about my country Philippine scene? Do you know any underground band from the Philippines? And how bout playing live here in my country? I would love to see you here.
NICK: -I don't know any band to be honest. I'm only in touch with your zine from your country. If bands read this send your stuff right away. Letters, emails, flyers, demos everything! I wish we can play there someday but lets do a tour first and talk about it, hehe.
NB: -And by the way, why you name your band Carnal Redemption? Is there any story behind it? Do you believe in God for salvation of sin?
NICK: -It's an inner brain condition. A very strong emotion for yourself the point where you regain everything spiritually. The mind is stronger than the flesh. And the flesh cannot work without it. God has nothing to do with it, it's not a Christian kind of thing no way!
NB: -For you, who is the most powerful, GOD, SATAN or MONEY? Explain it why?
NICK: -Money of course. No one says no to them. All religious people forget what their gods say when they're about to have some more. Even the fuckin’ priests here are rich.
NB: -What is really the goal of Carnal Redemption? And why you are existing in this planet called “earth”? What can we expect from you guys in the near future?
NICK: -The only goal we have as a band is to write good quality recordings and to play live very often. Everything else comes to us step by step with the time. The more success we have the happier we are, but if only ten like it, it's ok with us too!
NB: -That’s all brother, hope you found my questions interesting, thank you so much for your patience in answering my questions. You guys fucking rule!…make some growl message to the people and promote your cd.
NICK: -First I want to thank you for your support and say that your country has supported us a lot those 4 years of existence, but I still haven't heard a band from there. If you like death metal you can always check out our website and download the songs and if you like them you can order the cds. “THERE CAN BE NO ORDER...ONLY CHAOS”!
