Interview with Rallye of Religious Nightmare

 RELIGIOUS NIGHTMARE

Interview by Corix

NO BULLSHIT:- Tell us the short history of the band, is there any previous releases besides the 7track demo?
RALLYE:- Well, RxNx is a side project that albert and gil formed last year when he was trying to look for drummers for decadencia, he was asking gil if he knew any drummers, since he plays brutal death/grind with LOC and handles a rehearsal studio. but at that time there weren't any, and at the same time gil was wanting to form a crustpunk grind project, so albert and I tried jamming on some riffs and it instantly clicked. we recorded a rough tape of our first jam session which we put on mp3.com but it closed down months later, that's about it besides the 7track demo.

NB:- Your music is grindcore/crust, and it's a violent and brutal thing, how are you in your real character in life? does your music influence you and your nature?
RALLYE:- I'm the complete opposite. I'm a passive fucker who doesn't give a shit and would rather do my thing alone. I spend most of my time listening to music because it's the only thing that keeps me sane. I hang out with a lot of friends of different lifestyles but outside my job I'm basically a loner with too much disdain for the world. music and weed keeps me in one place and inspires me to read, write and do art

NB:- The drummer in RxNx is also from LOC right? and they are death/grind,. besides metal and grind do you have any hardcore/punk stuff? give me 5 of your favorite punk/hardcore bands?
RALLYE:- Yes, gil is LOC's drummer. yeah I like punk/hardcore a lot even if I don't own that much stuff on it. disrupt, black flag, assuck, integrity and iggy and the stooges (thanks to our guitarist) are my faves.

NB:- You guys i guess are really against religion, do you consider religion as racist? because of dividing us into diff beliefs?
RALLYE:- If you took a second look at our name you'll soon realize we actually don't have anything to do with being anti-religion. our guitarist pointed that out to me - because he used it in the form of an adjective. the word Religious can describe anything, but we used it with the word Nightmare. imagine the most sacred things in your life you hold dear, and then imagine the worst thing that can happen to that person, object or any intangible thing for it. that's what we realized when we were stoned and analyzing what the two words meant when put together. it makes total sense.

NB:- Why is it that hardcore/punk/grind/metal are attacking christianity? what about muslims, krishnas / jews? why is it that they're not being attacked, what is your opinion on that?
RALLYE:- I don't know. that's their own thing. we have ours. we don't attack christianity, but to me religion is a fraud, a mind control device. I believe in a higher power but not religion. it's a man made fraud. if you want to find god, do so with your own means and live your own life, not by how someone dictates it to be. everyone is entitled to their rights and beliefs, so don't be an asshole and diss other people of different creeds, you are no less better because we don't have answers to our questions.

NB:- Do you believe the saying hardcore/grindcore is about being open minded and is not close minded to reject christianity do you believe in that?
RALLYE:- Yes just like what i said. if you're trying to imply that we should be open minded just because our name is religious nightmare you are mistaken. we aren't into attacking christianity. read the answer on question no. 4. we're more concerned with the human situation; depression, no hope, serious problems and shady spots in life that your parents never told you about. other people see and feel that shit, most of them are happy and perfect. we try to represent the side where there's no hope and all you can do is self implode in anger at the lack of hope or lack of answers to your questions. we try to put that out in our music. in the end we all die and we don't have any real answers. life is more about learning as much as you can, anyway.

NB:- Aside from those very tiring questions about christianity and reigion, are you aware of what's happening to our country? what can you say about our country today? what can you say about those capitalists who slowly eat our lives?
RALLYE:- Yes, and I don't give a fuck who wins the elections or what the future holds, we are doomed, we are fucked. in the end, we should all look at ourselves and realize that we all need to change if we want our country to change. of course it would be better if that no good dumbass FPJ doesn't win, but in the end if you want change, start with yourself - all of us are flawed but if we do our best in everything, at least we won't die with hesitation. always do what you can. not all capitalists are assholes, cause some of them are honest and they give jobs to those who need it. the real problems are those who are greedy assholes who never value their workers, they should fall and be given a f'n lesson.

NB:- Will you be voting this coming election? if yes who will be your president? why?
RALLYE:- I failed to register so I wasn't able to. it sucks but what the fuck can I do. anybody except fpj or lacson. but mind you it's still the lesser evil you are voting for.

NB:- This question might suck, but let's face the truth we humans fall in love, do you listen to emotional love songs when you fall in love? what makes you getting soft and what makes you cry?
RALLYE:- I don't know if you smoke crack with your line of questioning. I listen to mushy shit but not too much of the pop crap. you can't help it if you love someone, you listen to weird shit ya know? I don't really have time for happy love songs, I like slow depressing shit or stuff like coldplay or the cure or the smiths. most of the love for girls I have fallen for is unrequited. believe me some of the lyrics I wrote are for them. but love changes you, makes you want to become better, brings out the best in you. I might sound like a fucking hippie, but we need the love from the women, they are the muse that inspires us. we all need them. I have not cried over a girl but I have become totally depressed and down in the pits and weed helps me get through it.

NB:- I'm outta words man, much props to you do some blastbeat shout outs.
RALLYE:- I think you are fucking stoned. [hahahaha! Just a bit drunk, man!-corix] Thanks to you and to the cavite dudes who come to the shows. thanks to LOC, AOD, Isvarah, the guys from Sauna, As Angels Fall, Tripalium zine, In dark Purity zine and my bandmates. Live your life to the full, don't pull any punches and go for it. We live only once, make the best out of everything you have, and learn until you are six feet under so you won't have any regrets. peace.
